There’s a certain energy that hits you on the first play of the game. You line up, you look across the line of scrimmage, and there’s no crowd noise, no cameras in your head — just that internal switch flipping from preparation to domination.
First snap against ULM… I knew exactly what time it was. Watch it now.
We came out on defense ready to strike. No feeling-out period, no easing in. As soon as that ball moved, instincts kicked in. Read the keys, break downhill, wrap up, finish the play. Simple.
The tone had to be set early. Physical, disciplined, violent football — that’s Troy defense. That first tackle wasn’t just a stop… it was a message:
“We’re here. We’re locked in. And you’re not moving the ball today.”
This game is about statement plays, but it’s also about consistency. One snap at a time. First play or fourth quarter, my mentality doesn’t change — swarm to the ball, impose your will, and make sure they feel you.
Every rep is film. Every moment is resume. Every tackle is opportunity.
I play with gratitude, with hunger, and with the knowledge that somebody out there is dreaming of being in this position. I don’t take that lightly.
Next snap, next challenge. Let’s keep going.
Locked in. Focused. Hungry. Always.
