Growth, Gratitude & Game Time | Justin Powe Troy University Football Safety

Man… it’s crazy how fast time flies. I remember being that young dude right outta high school, full of dreams and hype, stepping onto a college campus for the first time thinking I knew everything. Now here I am—older, wiser, and more focused than I’ve ever been.

College has been a journey. Not just on the field, but in life. I’ve grown a lot since the first year—mentally, spiritually, and physically. I’ve learned how to lead, how to stay disciplined, how to block out the noise, and stay grounded in my purpose. I’ve had highs and lows, wins and losses, but every step has been part of the process. I’m thankful for all of it.

Last season taught me a lot. I saw areas I needed to grow in, and I put in the work—on and off the field. I doubled down in the weight room, stayed in the film room longer, and made sure I kept my body and my mind right. Growth isn’t just about getting bigger or faster. It’s about getting smarter. Understanding the game. Learning from mistakes. Holding yourself accountable.

Now here we are—new season, new opportunities. I’m locked in with my folks at Troy, and I can feel the energy building. We’ve been grinding all offseason and I truly believe we’ve got something special this year. It’s not just about what we want to do—it’s about how bad we want it, and how hard we’re willing to go for it. And trust me—we want it BAD.

On a personal note, I’ve always had that dream of playing on Sundays. NFL. The highest level. That dream hasn’t changed—it’s only grown stronger. Every rep, every practice, every game—I treat it like it’s an audition. Because I know what I’m capable of. I know the work I’ve put in. I know I’ve got more to show.

But right now, I’m focused on the now. One game at a time. One practice at a time. The future will take care of itself if I handle business today.

To everyone who’s been riding with me—family, friends, coaches, teammates, supporters—thank you. Your belief in me means everything. Let’s make this season one to remember.

Stay locked in. Let’s work.
