Locked In & Finishing Strong: My Mindset After the 2024 Georgia Southern Win

November 2024 was one of those nights that remind you why you grind. Watch my game highlight breakdown now.

Playing under the lights in Statesboro, with momentum swinging back and forth, our Troy squad locked in and handled business. Shoutout to my brother Matthew Caldwell — four total touchdowns and set the tone early. When the energy is high like that, the defense has one job: close the door.

With two minutes left, we needed one play to seal the game.

And when that ball left the quarterback's hands, I trusted my read, trusted my preparation, and went and made that play — interception to close out a 28-20 win.

That wasn’t just a stat. It was a statement.

Preparation Meets Opportunity

People see the pick. They don’t always see the hours behind it:

  • Film at sunrise

  • Footwork and reaction drills until the legs burn

  • Studying route tendencies and QB eyes

  • Visualizing the moment before it happens

So when the play came? It didn’t feel like luck — it felt like repetition.

A great coach once told me, “Big-time players make big-time plays in big-time moments.”

That moment was earned.

My Defensive Standard

Football is talent, but greatness is discipline. At safety, I play with:

  • Range & instincts

  • Violent tackling and physical presence

  • Discipline in coverage

  • Film-room leadership

  • Ability to close games and take the ball away

My mission every game:
Be the player offenses fear and teammates trust.

I’m not chasing spotlight — I'm chasing responsibility.

Message to Coaches & Scouts

If you're evaluating me, evaluate the full picture:

  • Ball-hawk mentality

  • High football IQ

  • Physical and reliable at safety

  • Special teams mentality

  • Leader on and off the field

  • Closer — someone who finishes games

I’m building a career, not just a season.
I play fast. I play fearless. And I finish.

Mindset Moving Forward

This game wasn’t about one play — it was about responding to adversity, staying locked in, and proving I belong at the next level.

I want to become the kind of pro who elevates every locker room I'm in.

From Troy to the league — step by step, rep by rep, play by play.

Let’s work.
